The Versatility of a White T-Shirt

The main reason to keep your wardrobe well-stocked with plain t-shirts is for the huge variety and versatility they can add to your style. It’s always a safe bet to own several in your rotation. Plain t-shirts are so simple yet you can find an extensive selection of colors, graphics and patterns to suit your taste. The possibilities are endless. It is like beginning with a blank canvas and you're free to style any way you please with no limits.
T-shirts are ideal for layering jackets, blazers, cardigans, etc. A plain t-shirt can be the foundation for every outfit in your closet. There are so many ways you can style it, especially if you use a bit of imagination and creativity. From the classic combination of a white tee with blue jeans, to knotted over a maxi dress, your plain t shirt is definitely the hardest working item in your closet.

Just like any other clothing item, it’s important to choose the right t-shirt. You don't want to end up looking unkempt. The key is choosing the right cut and fit of the t-shirt. Plain tees come in a range of lengths and necklines, which can surprisingly change the whole effect of an outfit. When considering which cut to try, you should first consider your body shape and how you want the t-shirt to drape.
Slim-fitting t-shirts are ideal for layering underneath winter layers, while fitted tees are designed to be proportionate to the body and create a nice silhouette for a polished look. Oversized t-shirts are amazing for comfort and can add a cool laid back tone to an outfit. You can also try wearing an oversized shirt as a dress with some thigh high boots. Just don’t make the mistake of simply buying a regular t-shirt a few sizes too big, otherwise it may end up looking unflattering.

Styling the shirt can also play a big factor in the overall look. If you feel your look is a bit boring in just a plain t-shirt, pair it with some nicer items like a dressy bottom or a jacket to spice it up. Then try tucking it in or folding the sleeves up. Then you instantly achieve a clean, more polished look.  They are also the perfect companion with a suit. Although this is purely smart casual because you shouldn’t be wearing a t-shirt with a suit when the dress code is more formal or business professional. Get this look right and you’ll have one of the easiest and most stylish looks to throw on during a working week or weekend out.
You can even go as far as DIYing the shirt by adding cut outs, bleaching it, using iron-ons and more. Accessories matter as well. You can dramatically change the plain look of your shirt by adding a statement necklace or chain. Whether the goal is simple and laid back or a stylish fit, a plain t-shirt can be your best friend.
